Dr Rebecka Henriksson | Senior Research Fellow

Dr Rebecka Henriksson is a transdisciplinary sustainability scientist specializing in water and natural resources management, participatory governance, complex social-ecological systems, and multi-stakeholder collaborations and partnerships. Her work integrates diverse knowledge systems while addressing power dynamics and inequity to advance sustainability transformations with long-lasting impact.

She is the Deputy Director of the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) Centre of Excellence for Water, hosted by the Institute for Water Research (IWR) at Rhodes University, where she is also a Research Associate. Additionally, she is a Researcher at the Centre for Water Resources Research (CWRR), UKZN, and an Honorary Research Fellow in the School of Agricultural, Earth and Environmental Sciences, UKZN. She also holds affiliations as a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Natural Resources (INR) and as an Associate with Korumo Coaching for Transformation.

Dr Henriksson is the Founder and Director of Lingon Sustainability Science, supporting research, multi-stakeholder engagements, and strategic facilitation for sustainability transformations. She co-convenes the Northern Drakensberg Collaborative and is active in the uMkhomazi Catchment Working Group and the Coordination and Innovation in Catchment Conservation collaboration. She also advises national and international sustainability initiatives and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals
